Alpha Phi Alpha was introduced to San Diego at the University
of California, San Diego in September of 1972. The undergraduate
chapter, known as Eta Sigma, the 370th chapter, is the Metropolitan
chapter of San Diego. Eta Sigma continues to uphold the high standards
of Alpha, which strives for excellence in academics, leadership,
and community service.
From
1992 through 1994, in 1996, and in 2000, Eta Sigma was chosen as
Alpha Phi Alpha's Western Regional Chapter of the Year. Winning
Chapter of the Year consists of many different competitive categories.
We feel as though even if we don't win, we have given something
back to our community.
Eta Sigma has been constantly supportive of the African American
community at SDSU and UCSD, as well as the San Diego community
at large. With programs ranging from AIDS Awareness to the Gospel
Extravaganza (which raises funds for our annual Barron McCall Scholarship
Award), Eta Sigma has continued to hold up the light. |
